Welcome back to the Times, Nick! Appreciate your perspective, and informed recommendations regarding charitable giving.
Love and care for each other is powerful! With care and effective effort and coordination, we make a positive difference in the world. I think the key is to always keep asking, "What works?" and to not get bogged down in rigid ideological stances. And for care to always be at the heart.
So glad to read you wherever you write. But very lucky for Times readers that you are back. I live in France and, although not a third world anything, there is lots going on re: support for Ukraine; corruption with Qatar, etc etc would love to read your take on all of this.
Happy you're back at the Times, tho I hope you will try again to be Oregon's governor. For future columns/travels, I'm interested in your visiting countries that are maybe 'making it' - transitioning from third world to second or first, countries that are doing it (maybe) well. A recent story on Uruguay in the NYT or maybe WaPo on Uruguay was a good example. How about Mongolia?
I would like to have a way to contact you personally, as I have some thoughts to offer you on changing health care in this country. I'm a 79 year old writer and author of Immaculate Deception, which was named a Best Buy of the Year in the New York time in 1975, and 5 other books related to childbirth, attachment, etc. I haven't been able to find an email address for you. Please let me know how to reach you, as I have specific, do-able suggestions that will impact physical, mental/emotional health of children, women and men throughout their lives.
PS how we bring babies into the world and care for (neglect) the critical mother-baby dyad from pre-conception to age 1 literally shapes the brain, the gut, the immune system, attachment, and how we view ourselves and our world.
Im backing Connie on the Times not being all over the gopher story! Sheesh! We should listen to our dogs more often! Lol
I’d like to see an in-depth look at government and corporations supporting the food banks in American instead of taking responsibility for the tremendous food insecurity we find ourselves in.
So happy you are back and giving the public great journalism! A column idea....updates after catastrophies. How are people and their towns/countries recovering from climate change events ?

Some of the news that’s fit to print but mostly a bunch of sketchy shit? No thanks.

Glad you're back at the Times! Best wishes for the new year.
Holiday best wishes to you and family, from Brisbane, Australia. Grew up in Portland and miss a cold Christmas!
This is GOOD news. Your voice needs to be heard widely!
